Brief for luxury cloakroom design

Design toilets and cloakroom facilities for the lobby of the Great Scotland Yard Hotel. The building was the original police headquarters, and as such, held a lot of history and traditional features. The Hyatt hotel group wanted to respect this heritage when transforming the building into a luxury hotel.

We were asked to deliver something ‘traditional with a twist’.

Our luxury cloakroom design

It was important when designing the facilities for this hotel that the finishes and features all resonated with a luxury hotel experience. In addition, ensure that the materials felt coherent with the age and style of the building.

We designed three styles of bespoke toilet cisterns. All polished metal; satin black for the gents, polished metal for the disabled facilities and satin white for the ladies. The bespoke Chadder plaque on each is in gold and customised with ‘Great Scotland Yard’.

Marble basins were installed with bespoke soap holders, designed specifically for Penhaligon or Molton Brown soap bottles. Each soap holder was designed with a basket underneath for hand towels. To complete the look, the soap holders were finished in our exclusive “Brushed Brass” finish.

All designed and Made in England by Chadder and Co.

Great Scotland Yard Hotel Bespoke Bathroom Design

This was a great project to be part of, but we were especially pleased with our modifications for the disabled facilities.

We didn’t want any compromise on practicality or style, so the polished silver cistern is fitted with a bespoke lever that can be easily pressed using a hand or elbow.
Modified in this way makes it much more accessible than the traditional chain, which might be difficult to reach from a wheelchair.

The cloakrooms were completed with wonderfully bold wallpaper and classic tiling which ties the whole concept together. This interior styling really delivered on the ‘traditional with a twist’ brief.  The new cloakroom facilities are classic and elegant. Matching historical features and contemporary trends, they represent the interior style of the hotel perfectly.

The cloakrooms fit seamlessly into the wider design concept for the hotel and most importantly delight the guests!
